Pre-K-6 Program
Bonnie Cone Classical Academy’s Pre-K-6 program offers a solid foundation for our classical curriculum. We focus on teaching students how to learn and think, not what to learn and think.
Following the ideas of the classical education model, our instruction focuses on the first two stages of learning: grammar and logic. Grammar, the typical stage for grades Pre-K-5, is the stage in which students learn foundational knowledge that will serve as the building blocks for later learning. Logic, typically presented in grade 6, focuses more on developing the student’s ability to analyze and interpret information. We combine our classical education model we utilize the Core Knowledge Sequence and Curriculum which provides our scholars with a well-integrated curriculum. According to Core Knowledge,
Our curriculum is sequenced and specific grade-by-grade. These building blocks of information provide the prior knowledge that is required to advance in academic content. Background knowledge is the primary driver of language comprehension, whether written or spoken.
