Bonnie Cone Classical Academy (BCCA), treats all students with dignity and respect.

As part of the McKinney-Vento Education of Homeless Children and Youth Assistance Act, we provide all students (regardless of their home situation)  access to the same educational opportunities and resources. We take our commitment to serve our community seriously and abide by all U.S. education laws. What Defines Homelessness in North Carolina? 

Students who lack fixed, regular, or adequate nighttime residence are considered homeless. To learn more about how the McKinney-Vento Homeless Act can assist your family and receive available services, contact our specialist

  • Students living in shared housing, a shelter, or transitional/emergency shelters 
  • Students taking refuge at a bus station, park, car, or vacant building 
  • Students and their families living in a motel, hotel, or camping grounds 
  • Students residing in a public or private location that is not designed for sleeping 
  • Students and their families living in a car, bus, or train station
  • Students who live unaccompanied in any of the above circumstances 

What Educational Rights Are Protected by the McKinney-Vento Homeless Act?

Homeless students at Bonnie Cone Classical Academy have the same access to education and educational rights that are granted to other enrolled families. These rights include: 

  • The right to immediate enrollment, even if enrollment-specific documents are not submitted (i.e., permanent address and medical records as proof of residency). 
  • The right to choose their school or to continue to attend their “school of origin.” 
  • The right to transportation to and from school. 
  • The right to participate in the same programs and extracurricular activities as other students.
